What’s Going Down in Brighton

This blog is about what really goes down in Brighton. The frustrations, the crowds, the things you just can’t ignore. Let’s talk about the reality of living here. No rose tinted glasses, just the truth. This is the Brighton no one talks about.

This is our Brighton blog

Brighton, the city where everything that could go wrong… does. Council complaints, overpriced coffee shops, and crowds that seem to have zero regard for personal space. If you’ve ever wondered why this city, which is so “charming,” has so many problems, you’re not alone. We’re here to tell you exactly what’s wrong with Brighton — the things people are too polite to mention.

You won’t find any of that “best of Brighton” nonsense here. We’re not going to recommend overpriced eateries or trendy “hidden gems.” No, we’re telling you about the chaos that makes Brighton a nightmare to navigate. From the constant buzz of people who think they’re part of something bigger to the endless roadworks, it’s not as glamorous as the tourists make it seem.

Tired of sifting through endless recommendations for the best this and most that? So am I. That’s why we’ve divided it all into categories — to make it just a tiny bit easier for you to find what you’re looking for (or what I think is worth looking at).

Whether you’re after overpriced brunch spots, quirky events, or just somewhere to avoid the crowds, we’ve got the “hidden gems” (or just places no one told you about) covered.

Events

Brighton’s events calendar is a joke. Whether it’s a marathon or some random festival, it’s just an excuse for crowds to invade my peaceful day. I didn’t sign up for this chaos.

Community

Brighton’s community is just tourists in disguise. I can’t walk anywhere without dodging clueless visitors. And don’t get me started on cyclists! They think they own the roads.

Food & Drink

Brighton’s food scene is always “award winning” until you actually try to get a table. Long queues, sold out specials, and coffee that costs more than my weekly shop!
